The ST4000nm0025 is stock and isn't flashed with the update available on the Dell site because I can't even see the drive to do the flash. I tried the drive in HDD 0 just to verify and got the same result. Furthermore, if I place my finger on the drive during boot, it doesn't seem to be getting (or recognizing) a power up sequence, no clicks, vibration, head seeks whatsoever. PERC 6/i, 6/iR, H200 and H700 controllers support internal RAID configurations for up to eight (8) hard disks or solid-state drives (SSDs). Im beginning to think our business is in need of a new server. When I boot the system, this drive isn't recognized by the H200, it's not listed during H200 initialization or by the CTRL-C config utility. The other limitation is that the card only supports up to 2TB disks. So if I cant be sure that LSI 2008 will do the job with FreeBSD 圆4 (I dont want any BS) Ill go for LSI 1068E but If there is good support for LSI 2008 I really want it.

I found a post on freenas explaining how to flash a Pike 2008 (although I have some doubts, that the sequence of the info posted there is correct). I would need to replace the cables, and they dont come cheap. I can do that too, but the PERC 6/iR uses SFF-8484 'wide' connectors and the H200 uses SFF-8087 connectors. If someone else is considering using this card (or H200) in Freenas, this might help. It seems that it is not as easy as it is to crossflash M1015. The task is trying to crossflash the IT firmware of the LSI HBA to the Pike 2308. There are plenty of people who replaced the PERC 6/iR with the PERC H200 flashed to LSI IT mode firmware. I purchased Dell PERC H200E 12DNW from ebay and I was trying to crossflash it to 9200-8e IT mode. This means, the equivalent LSI adaptor would be an LSI 9207 HBA. Besides the Dell H310, another good card is the IBM M1015 which can be found all over eBay and offers a great alternative to the H310.

The H200 adapter is flashed to the most current levels available from Dell (Dell PERC H200 Adapter, v.07.03.06.00, A09). The H200 runs in IR mode and presently has one has one Seagate ST3600057SS in HDD 0 configured for boot. I have a PE T110 II with an H200 adapter running MS Server 2012R2.
